Perhaps Nepal never needed more focus on tourism than today. With some of our heritage sites challenged in the post earthquake period, we are now facing a growing need of tools to attract tourists and revive Nepal’s tourism. And here is your chance to make an impact.
Mr. Ashutosh Tiwari is a co-founder of Entrepreneurs for Nepal (E4N), a 42,000+ group that is very active on Facebook. Since 2009, E4N has hosted more than 60 monthly speaker series called Last Thursdays. Through E4N, Ashutosh mentors entrepreneurs and links them up with investors. From 2007 to 2009, Ashutosh was the CEO of Himalmedia where he successfully solved the company's long-standing labour union problems, and turned around the company -- both financially and operationally. From 2010 to 2014, Ashutosh was the Country Representative for WaterAid in Nepal. He led his team of development practitioners to provide safe drinking water, sanitation and hygiene services to 60,000 marginalized Nepalis across Nepal every year. From June 2012 to June 2014, Ashutosh was the elected Chairperson of the Association of International NGOs in Nepal (AIN), which had 114 INGOs as members. Convinced that Nepal has achieved strong enough social progress, Ashutosh shifted his career focus to the private sector, especially on manufacturing. In September 2014, he became the CEO of Sherpa Adventure Gear, an outdoor apparel manufacturer that sells its made-in-Nepal products in 500 stores in 21 countries around the world. In 2011, World Economic Forum in Geneva honoured Ashutosh as a Young Global Leader. Ashutosh views his career as suitably hybrid for these complex times: a mix of for-profit, social entrepreneurial and non-profit leadership experiences.
